Hannie Calder is a strange one - the comedy outlaws suddenly turn into vile rapists. It does benefit from a really good performance from Robert Culp, and a nice piece of casting against type for Christopher Lee.
I've never seen a nice print of it in its correct aspect ration, so I might give it a go. Is it really on twice in the same night on ITV4?

When you have read the work of Robert Hare you will find this true to life.

Its one of only four British westerns (unless anyone can come up with more) -
The Sherriff of Fractured Jaw
Carry on Cowboy
Shalako
HC is a real curio almost a British attempt at a Spagetti Western with curiously a bona fide western director (Burt Kennedy). No classic but entertaining and with an eclectic cast.

I would be tempted to include Peter Collinson's The Man Caled Noon, which doesn't look very British, but is from UK producer Euan Lloyd with a mainly UK crew.
I think there was another one from an offshoot of Hammer films in the sixties, but I could be getting mixed up with the project which eventually became the 'Space Western' Moon Zero Two.
The Hellions is a British Western set in South Africa.

No I think your right there is a Michael Carreras produced (and maybe directed) one from the sixties but I can't remember the title
I thought it was Michael Carreras, but it's not on his imdb entry - help anyone?
What about The Overlanders (1946)?name='orpheum']The Hellions is a British Western set in South Africa.
A "western" (about a big cattle drive) set in Australia, made by Ealing
Steve
name='Windthrop']The Savage Guns
Ah yes, thank you. For no apparent reason, imdb has put its Spanish language title first.
