Has anyone out there read the recently published bio of JRJ - if so is it a biogrovel or a worthwhile book ?

I remember; apart from him being a fine actor, and great to work with; he kept a falcon in his dressing room!

Was he as loud and authoritative in real life as he always seemed to be portrayed in films?

The DVD has long since been deleted I'm afraid.

There are still some copies available via Amazon's Marketplace (at vastly inflated prices though).

    What book?

Does it mention him 'holding the hand' of Patrick McGoohan when they both went to Cannes in 1957 and met Jean Cocteau?

Sounds an interesting read!.........I have read that he was friendly with members of Britains Royal family, when it was deemed suitable for Prince Charles to have his first 'experience', actress Amanda Barrie was asked if she would oblige by James......but I don't think anything became of it!

The book has been delayed in publication so Phil Windsor could do his introduction. Guess it will help the sales figures and also shows what a remarkable figure JRJ was in getting someone like that to do the intro.

I'm the author of the JRJ book. It was supposed to be published in September this year but has been delayed until February 2008 as we've been waiting on foreword's from Leslie Phillips and The Duke of Edinburgh. Anyway, they're both in now but we thought it best to get Xmas well and truely over before publishing.

It's taken nearly four years to write but will hopefully be worth it. We've managed to track down his only living relative (that we know of) who has provided us with some fantastic photos. I think we're publishing just over 100 in the book.

If anyone would like a look at the cover please visit James Robertson Justice

    Cheers,

    Hoggers

But you didn't answer the original question Hoggers

Is it a biogrovel or a worthwhile book?

But I suppose that's more for others to judge and I for one can't wait to get my copy

It's certainly not a biogrovel Steve. JRJ led a pretty amazing life. Even outside of films he did more in a year than most could fit into a lifetime. And it was because of what he got up to outside of his career in films that helped us find a publisher. Had it not been such a good story I doubt we'd have succeeded.. During his life JRJ was a professional racing driver, professional Ice Hockey player, professional womaniser, fought in the Spanish Civil War (where he aquired a price on his head), worked for British Intelligence during WWII, killed several Germans, spoke twenty languages, was twice elected Rector of Edinburgh University, taught Price Charles how to fly falcons and appeared in around 80 films. There's obviously a heck of a lot more, but you get my gist.
