Having watched entire series of The Sentimental Agent I finally got round to buying Man of the World (ITC 1962 20X50mins), from which the former was a spin-off, which I am also too young to remember (and which Anglia TV also did not repeat). Just in time, as I understand Network DVD have deleted it!

    Good choice, Sarge.
Re-watched this a couple of years back, after a long gap, and it still packs quite a punch.

    or
    same again on Standard DVD...
Plus hosts of other goodies including a small booklet with original posters & excerpts from Schlondorff's diaries...

If I can stay up to 3am Sunday morning, I will attempt to watch the 2008 French film L'heure d'été (Summer Hours) on BBC2 (see link). I wonder if our moonfleet has seen it?

Saved up all my pennies and although this one film used up ALL my monthly allowance....I know full well it'll be worth every penny.

The new Blu-Ray, English sub-titled version of Ettore Scola's Il viaggio di Capitan Fracassa has just arrived from the USA & will be spinning merrily in my player later on this evening...

Starring Vincent Perez, Emmanuelle Beart, Ornella Muti & Massimo Troisi and originally released in Italy on All Hallows Eve 1990.....
    Read more about it here....

Only managed to watch episode 1 so far but I wasn't disappointed.Maunder plays the character as the flawed person he was and the script acknowledges his shortcomings, even that he's just returned to active duty after a year's suspension for leaving his post without permission.I'm a sucker for cavalry themed films and tv so I'll be watching the rest of the episodes over the next few days..By the way I got the series from You Tube.It looks as though it's a copy of an off-air vhs recording, but watchable and probably little chance of an official dvd release.

Excellent thanks for that tip woody I'd forgotten what a good looking chap Wayne Maunder was.
