Laurel & Hardy: 21dvd: Box Set

For anyone who's interested I went into the HMV store in Birkenhead today and found that they were selling the 21 disc Laurel & Hardy Collection for only £50. Tried to double check it on the HMV site but it said that that product was unavailable. I think this was originally priced at £199 and the cheapest I've seen it anywere else was around £90 so its a bargain for any fans of the comic duo.

These sets have been available in-store at fifty quid for a couple of weeks now. Some people have been snapping them up to resell 'elsewhere', as a few of the individual discs are now worth a few quid.

So sad that television doesn't show these films any more (l think the copyright owners have out priced themselves)....I took a 16mm print of Perfect Day to a local school over Christmas...8-11 year olds. Not one had ever heard or seen a Laurel & Hardy short! We started off in silence but they soon realised they were 'funny men'...by the end they were calling for more! The 'Box Set' is incredible value...I paid £199 on the day of release...would have paid double!!!

Whatever you do DO NOT sell or swap this!:



First of all it weighs a ton and the postage cost alone would make a trade doubtful.

Secondly, most of these Laurel and Hardy films are from their golden period of 1927-1940. That includes superb features like Way Out West, Our Relations and Sons of the Desert.

Just watch one of their unmissable shorts like "The Chimp", "Busy Bodies", "Tit For Tat" or "Below Zero" . These shorts are head and shoulders above most of today's TV garbage.



The current box set price of around £40 for all 21 discs is an absolute bargain.

Anyone thinking of investing should buy it and find out just why Laurel and Hardy have an immortal place in not just comedy, but film history!

Finally decided to get it at Amazon's current low price despite it having colourised versions as well as b/w ones to bump up the running time ... I'm sure it will be great.
