another bank gone under today ,lehemens theyre called with the probability of 4500 job losses in this country alone . there was some of them in tears ,call me cruel if you like but isnt this the consequence of running your business recklessly ? im just joe bloggs the lorry driver but im actually classed as self employed and if i went mad and run my business stupidly and spent the money ive put to one side for tax and eventually went under ,whose fault would that be ? if the same guys in tears today were still making a killing and were off to the porsche or rolex dealer would they give a damn about the ordinary people like us ? i dont feel sorry for them at all im afraid and also feel that northern rock should have had the same fate

And isn't it nice that they know rhyming slang when they describe their jobs?

They're a load of merchant bankers

Same here David, I bet they're crying into their Lunchtime Champagne, poor Buggers, or is it W......?!!, though I personally would call some of those City types who seem to acquire One million pound bonuses a much stronger word than that!

Wall Street took the biggest hammering since the great Depression and while I have little sympathy for the Gordon Ghekos of this world the crash will have a rippling effect here in Europe and could affect savings and investments and endowments of ordinary hard working folk here in the UK. A while back George Bush decided to abolish quite a lot of controls and restrictions that helped maintain the US stock exchange on some level of sanity and controlled greed at least, and as a result it has all imploded.

" No need to set out to destroy Capitalism, it will eventually destroy itself".....who said that?

It always amazes me that these are the companies that pay out incredible salaries but dont seem to invest the vast profits they have made. To be honest the majority of those who will have lost their jobs ,it will be a terrible time but the high rollers will more than likely be looked after by other companies they have dealt with.It all comes down to ,we are all the loser's as it is always us that pay in the long run.

its the audacity of expecting someone to bail them out when theyre in trouble that amazes me ,when the moneys rolling in for them they couldnt care less about anyone else but themselves and their bank accounts
