The advert has a driverless Volvo rolling down a hill clipping into parked cars, can anyone tell me what is the old red car it hits first.

I was thinking Simca maybe 1500/1501 but it's not quite.

    Any classic car buffs?

    Just found it on YT

I think it's an early Audi 80. They've removed the four ring Auto Union badge from the front.

Have a look at this image for a comparison.

I really hate it when TV shows and adverts wreck rare old cars for no good reason. The Royal has been a culprit over the years, and Wanted the other week wrecked a classic mid 60s Mustang.

    Evening, luvvies!

I too hate seeing old vehicles kebabbed! Remember in Daleks Invasion Earth 2050, the pesky dalek spaceship blows up...a J-Series Morris van! They're so cute, with headlamps on the front wings. What a blinking waste!

Think I'd agree with Andy looking at the vent on the rear pillar. Ad was probably shot abroad.

That's one ugly car, looks like somebody raided the parts bin at Longbridge.

I agree, it does resemble a Simca 1300/1500.

But happily it isn't. My old one went to Pontardulais.

And my proper car was hit by a runaway Milk Float careering down the hill. No Pogles though.

I quite like it, nicer looking than an Allegro or Princess, mind you I have a weird soft spot for Leyland crap.

Spot on wth the ID AndyG

I wonder how many were made & if any still exist.

andyg2003 is right as its a south african BL version of the austin 1100/1300 ,they featured these kind of BL rarities in one of the classic car mags a while ago . that insurance ad is obviously filmed abroad and redone for the british market ,quite a few ads are like that now

    Lord Brett,

After your comments above, I'm hastily rewriting Scene 136 of my current assignment, so that we can save a 1964 Renault Dauphine from a sticky end!!

I think the Allegro's looks of dated rather gracefully. Is it just me has a soft spot for the all-aggro?

Apparently only one, which they reinforced underneath then kept crashing, which was quite a nice bit of recycling. Those Bangers and Sash races that used to be on world of sport were the worst. Some lovely old cars were bashed to bits in those events.
