Yup I had my flu jab & a pneumonia one a fortnight ago. I've been having the flu one for about seven or eight years now.
My wife and I had a flue jab today. We are lucky that we can get a flue jab in our department of the civil service.
Do other forum members get flue jabs in their place of work.
Its very handy, as I see that Boots charge fifteen pounds.
I have to confess that I have been remiss in the last couple of years and havent had one, but I made sure I did this year. I have suffered from nose bleeds since I was a child and have had some quite severe ones when I have a cold or the flue.

That's Mr Bertolucci isn't it?

Si, I am going through the Bernardos as a theme and he is Bernardo Bertolucci, almost the same age as me and looks a bit like my craggy visage.
Possible next on the list is Mr Bernardo, a Canadian mass murderer, then Bernardo an Ivy leaf geranium, just a bit of fun. Well spotted. By the way your avitar is a brilliant character actor if he is in a production it is usually worth watching. Was he in some Dad's Army shows?![]()

I've just been knocked out by the ruddy influenza. I had to cut a trip up to the smoke short and it made me miss my sister's birthday party on Saturday.
My employer used to offer the vaccination, but alas no more.
Get a jab if you can, the strain I had was particulaly vile (including nasty mouth ulcers, ouch.)
My dear Mum is nearly 88 and suffers with COPD, having smoked since she was 14.
She gets one or two colds through the year that she always seems to manage to shake off fairly quickly (so far, anyway).
She had the flu jab ONCE a few years ago - and was poorly for weeks afterwards; it then took her months to regain what little strength she now has.
The following year, she told the doctor where to stick his hypodermic..............

Yes, that is a problem, it can often do more harm than good depending upon the person.
I'm glad we've had the subject title sorted out as I thought this was some gay euphemism thread.
I have one every year as im Diabetic have been for 32 years, plus i work in the hospital so its safer to get one done.![]()

I have a Flue jab every year now !! perhaps it just coincidence but I have not had flue or bad colds since starting having it, wheres prior to this I had bad flue and colds every year so for me it works well![]()
I can't have them ..... they make me ill!
I have had a jab for the last 3 years. Being asthmatic catching bad colds or flu as I used to was very miserable But amazing as it may seem, since having the jabs bad colds and flu are a thing of the past. I might get the odd sniffle now and again but thats all. No side effects either.
I had mine about three weeks ago (as has been pointed
out elsewhere in this thread, we old 'uns get them free!)
When I worked in a hospital, hardly any of the nurses
would have the jab; they believed that it made them
more ill, than if they had not taken it, so they chose to
take their chances!
I know that the first one I ever had, through my job at
the time, made me ill, almost as bad as the flu itself,so
I was reluctant to try again. But for the past three years
I have submitted meekly at my doctors, with no ill effects!
As a matter of useless record, I had a flu shot and a B12 injection, today!
AND I am still living.
John
I've never had the flu shot but then I've never had the flu.
The common cold, now, that's another thing, but ever since I moved, I don't get as sick as I used to.
Mr Mack is in his 50s and prides himself on the fact that he's only just going on twelve. Imagine his indignance, then, when a letter arrived asking him to make an appointment for his flu jab. After much clattering of pots and pans and thumping around the house muttering 'I'm not that old!', he finally gave in and called the doc. They only wanted him to have it because he had a nasty case of pneumonia last winter that didn't get diagnosed until he'd gone into the recovery stage, and that's left him with the need for an inhaler.
Not sure whether he's any happier about being classed as a 'vulnerable patient' but he's been and had it done in any case. Said his arm hurt for a day or so afterwards, but he seems OK now.![]()
