I got a lovley reply to an email I sent to Ann over the Christmas period. She seems to be a very nice lady.
I was just thinking about that great actress Anne Mitchell.
Lynda La Plante wrote both the Widows trilogy and Prime Suspect. While Widows made Anne a household name, PM turned Helen Mirren into a global movie star. I think I'm right in saying there was an American version of Widows made, while Helen's original version was shown Stateside.
I'm just wondering, because Widows was made about a decade before, that Anne, as Dolly Rawlins didn't get the same international acclaim as Helen did for her role ofJane Tennison in PM.
I admit Helen, as well as being a great actress, is one of the most beautiful women in the history of film, but Anne in the 80s was a very sexy lady lady, who was also and still is a talented actress.
Anne also impressed in an early Taggart and held her own with Edward Woodward in a special story line in The Bill
