name='mrs_emma_peel']Incredibly moving final episode of
The Dairy of Anne Frank BBC1.
The final intense scenes of fearful, desperate panic and terror, portrayed so brilliantly by the cast, were really very affecting and upsetting.
The scene where Albert Dussell calmly takes the very frightened Anne’s shaking hands in his, and helps fasten on her scandals, was absolutely heartbreaking. The final freeze frame endings charting the fate of each individual Annexe occupant, ending with Anne herself, looking back upwards towards the Annexe, were devastatingly emotional.
Superb cast and performances … outstanding debut performance by newcomer Ellie Kendrick as Anne made this series one of the best adaptations ever on the Anne Frank story.
The excellent documentary
Anne Frank Remembered BBC4 perfectly complemented this BBC1 series.
