Ms Thompson’s emotional performance in protest at the proposed Heathrow expansion was most impressive to watch. I assume that when she next has reason to travel to Los Angeles to work or attend the Oscars, she will travel by ship and train.

It shouldn’t take her more than a week to get there.

    I couldn't agree more.

Perhaps if she starts now she could swim it?

She's the one actress I absolutely cannot stand - she always seems so pleased with herself that I want to slap her.

I agree that Heathrow shouldn't get a third runway (as someone who lives within 5 miles of the airport), but the fact that she's on the "green" side makes me want to change my allegiance.

Something about stones and glasshouses springs to mind.

Thanks for the link EHV, I'm glad she realises what a hipocrate she is, and if she'd have had her way Kuwait would now be part of Iraq and there's be no flippin' fuel for her LA flights!

As somebody who lives in extremely close proximity to Heathrow Airport and whose quality of life has already been affected considerably by T5, I shall just be happy when David Cameron is elected as Prime Minister - and scraps the whole idea.

I don't understand. I'm sure there are people who oppose the congestion charge but I'll bet they still drive a car.

She is I presume protesting against expansion not the status quo.

Have to say I'm with the Tories on this.

True, but what David hasn't said is 'we''ll scrap the new runway at Heathrow, but build a brand new Airport somewhere else"

Geoff Hoon is also wrong about 'Love Actually'.imo. It is not ' a very good film' - it's overly long, self indulgent and lacks focus. A bit like my posts, but still...

Still not enough reason to vote in a Tory government, though. Alan Duncan the shadow business secretary is, of course, one of the leading advocates of a new runway. This is down to Cameron and his chief strategist Steve Hilton. But, I think you'll find there is little support, generally, for environmental issues over business concerns amongst top flight, traditional Tory supporters.
