'Tis French, which rules out 'Jerry Cotton'.

I have a suggestion; as this is the BRITmovie site, could the WOS listings be limited to those WOSes that feature a Brit (by birth, including those from Oz and all the other former dominions, colonies, protectorates, etc.--this would exclude those born in Ireland after a certain date, those born in India after a certain date; those born in South Africa after a certain date, etc.) in the top line-up? Or that are directed by a British born citizen—Mr. Hitchcock springs immediately to mind. Or famous cameraman, producer, you name it, as long as she or he is a NAME and is British, one way or the other!

The films would include those starring Liz Taylor, C. Aubrey Smith, Cary Grant, thousands and thousands of transplants and would at least stay within the confines of British filmdom!

PS Research reveals that we can expect three more Baz appearances on this thread

We have now separated the non-Brit films from the Name That Film thread and I think that's enough. As I said earlier non-Brit films, TV programmes, actors and directors are featured in the other games threads (and in some of the more serious threads) so why should this one be any different.

This is the Fun and Games section and should be treated as such. It is easy to lose sight of that fact (and blimey have I done that in the past) and start taking it all terribly seriously.

Let's keep it as it is ... it's just a bit of fun after all.

ps - My Bat-Quizzes get loads of entries when I broaden the scope of the questions to include foreign films, whereas the purely Brit-based ones (like the current one) generally get a poorer response

Don't worry Vaggs - should I ever guess another one (which won't be the case if people restrict themselves to furrin-language films ), the Hollywood cricket club will feature quite prominently

Actually in my original suggested rules when I kicked this NTF off some centuries ago, I did suggest that 'Furrin' could be included provided there was a strong Brit connection either in front or behind the camera. However the rules were cunningly deleted

I think now that we have a Brit Film and 'the rest' quizzes it simplifies things

Some French goal hanging! How very Michel Platini ....

It is Trauffaut's brilliant Tirez ur Le Pianiste.
