Is this the series or just a 'best of' compilation?

Looks like a 'Best of' compilation ...

Detectives and master criminals come together for the first time in a DVD box set as Pegasus Entertainment Ltd presents 'The Best Of Classic British TV - Crime Series' featuring episodes from four nostalgic TV shows of the early 60s.

    Saber Of London

The long running TV series proved a hit with audience on both sides of the Atlantic under various titles including 'Detective's Dairy' and 'The Vise'. Whatever the title, the hit show featured the crime-solving exploits of the gallant and charming one-armed private investigator, who greeted his viewers with the famous words 'I'm Mark Saber - and this is London'.

    Man From Interpol

'Crime is international but so is the law'.

The series plotted the globetrotting adventures of Anthony Smith, the man from Interpol, as he sort to bring master criminals from all corners of the world to justice. Special attache to Scotland Yard, Agent Smith proved a charismatic and adaptable crime fighter as no one knew where in the world evil would strike next.

    Tales Of Edgar Wallace

Based on the works of English crime writer Edgar Wallace, the series was updated adaptations of his stories, with each episode providing an unusual mystery to be solved. A celluloid penny dreadful, the stories twisted and turned at a fabulous pace keeping the armchair detectives guessing until the very end.

    Scotland Yard

Introduced by novelist and broadcaster Edgar Lustgarten, the series focused on cases from the records room of the most famous police force in the world, Scotland Yard. Regular viewers were drawn into a murky world of mystery, murder and mayhem as each episode explained or helped to solve a hideous crime.

As Amazon states that this is a 3 DVD set, how many episodes are there on each DVD, and what are they?

For more episodes to be issued, you do need to buy this one.....

It seems that it doesn't come out until November (nightmare trying to find this site at the moment)...I'm sure better prices will appear around then.

Strange how things turn out isn't it. I have been considering buying the Complete Edgar Wallace that is on e-bay for around £90. I have held off up until now as the quality may be iffy, has anyone any comments to make on the e-bay set or should I wait ?

This is the set for sale on ebay ....

.... and is from our old friends Media Classics.

This and two or three other sets have been on sale for several years and all have been off-air recordings of varying quality, ranging from very good to very bad.

The dvd features one Edgar Wallace episode 'Death Trap' which featured Kenneth Cope and Barbara Windsor and was directed by our own Mr Moxey!

There will be more in the New Year, although Pegasus haven't decided whether to release further compilations or Edgar Wallace only sets.

I watched it last night. It's one of the best in the series IMHO.

As so as you get wind of the episode titles can you please post them here!!

Many thanks in advance. Let's hope that they bring out the episode from Scotland Yard - The Wall of Death.

I have been after this episode for years. I have all of the others except this one.

Regarding the release of the Edgar Wallace films and Danziger Brothers etc. I recently bought The Silent Invasion and it is the same as that sold by MediaWorld. I'd say it is a transfer from video tape to DVD. The sound was very low in places and the picture not as good as say Odeon or Renown. I am not getting too excited about Pegasus as I have reviewed many of their CDs and lets say they leave a great deal to be desired. I hope to be proved wrong.

The only plus at the moment is the official DVD release of any Merton Park material and that "Death Trap" is an excellent John Moxey directed film with Albert Leiven, Barbara Shelley, Kenneth Cope and little seen Mercy Haystead plus a cameo from Babs Windsor.
