A park seen in two episodes of THE AVENGERS: The See-Through Man (November 1966) and Game (June 1968)



This could be near Borehamwood or Watford, but the production team would visit Hampstead Heath at the drop of a hat. Did anyone out there swing in Hampstead Heath in the late 60's early 70's?

I think that Cassiobury Park in Watford is a likely contender - the park has become a mini Alton Towers since the '70s, but some of it should be recognisable if it is this location.

Had a look at Cassiobury Park and really found nothing to indicate that this is the location.

I suggested Cassiobury last year, mainly based on the first picture rather than the playground itself. The path looks similar to one of those in the area between Cassiobury Park Avenue & Cassiobury Drive but I was basing it on a memory of running along it during the Watford Half Marathon so my judgement may have been clouded at the time!

I'm basing my guess on the size of the park, the roadway running through it and the fact that a very short sequence was shot in the car park of Watford Central Baths, just across the road.



There used to be a lot of elm trees in the park and the new playground is the size of a small New Zealand town.

Has anyone looked at the recreation ground at Shenley?



If the houses in the background have been built since the sixties, then the swings, roundabouts and the narrow road are all there. The ground is out of the way... so much so I've been going to Shenley for over twenty years and never come across it, rather found it on Google Earth.



Think it's worth a look.

I've been Streetviewing around Shenley for my recent Murdersville finds and I'm sure this is not Shenley.



All we need is somebody who played in Cassiobury Park in the 60's or early 70's to say yea or nay - which probably means anyone brought up in Watford and the surrounding area of a 'certain age'
