That's a very, very straight road, and only one turning in about 3 miles. Was Watling Street dual carriageway ???
Another mindbender posted up from Huntley Film Archives, some back projection film shot for television series 'THE BARON'. Features an unknown stretch of dual carriageway probably in the Home Counties. Do you recognise it?
My bet would be either the A1(M) near Borehamwood or the A11 near South Mimms.
They do use the M4 Airport Spur in the series, but I can't see any hard shoulder in the footage.
THE BARON went a little further North than other ITC series with locations filmed around Dunstable, Wheathampstead
and Luton. Very little to go on here as I can't even match this to an episode.

Looks very much like the bit of road footage on the actual Baron titles. The flyover his Jenson goes under at speed is the same design as the one they go under in the above clip on 17 seconds but from a different angle
It was the A6 from London Colney to a point just short of Ridghill (now the A 1081 & M25). The points to look for are the lay-by to the west of White Horse Lane (now removed but the site is marked by a line of wooden posts and the white line on the side of the road), the bridge that carries White Horse Lane over the A6, the two underbridges (one for the river Colne, the other for a farm track) and the roundabout at the junction with the B556 Coursers Road with the pylon next to it.name='Anthony McKay' timestamp='1287559824' post='484423']

Excellent detective work Alan. This is a part of 'Avengerland' that I've tended to avoid due to the redevelopment. I'm not shocked that you found it, but at the speed you found it.
Well done!
Well done Alan, judging by the vehicles it looks very early 60's to me, on the clip we're just about to arrive at the now demolished (for the M25) Waggon & Horses pub which has been mentioned a few times on the forum.
I've been flipping through THE BARON without any joy, but we may have found one of the few missing locations from THE PRISONER.
Is this the same overbridge?
