I am currently publishing a number of articles to a website which was originally setup to record the short history and growth of Milton Keynes.

I have already researched a number of films including The Fourth Protocol, Superman IV and of course Withnail and I, which have all used Milton Keynes as a filming location. I am now turning my attention to Television programmes, I was hoping that I might bother you kind people to suggest some that have either be based in MK or have used Milton Keynes for a scene or two.

I don't know if I am allowed to publish the URL of the website so if you are interested in knowing more please send me a PM.

    Thanks

    Mark

The IMDb Location area lists a few TV shows, or episodes. But it seems to be quite popular for films

Apart from the ones you mention it was also used in:
    Superman III
Pride & Prejudice (1995 BBC series)
    The Meaning of Life
    Enigma
    Black Beauty (1994)
    Separate Lies (2005)

    and many others

Thanks Steve, though having seen the film enigma i couldnt actually see where they had filmed in Milton Keynes. in fact i was really disapointed they didnt use the real bletchley park mannor house, but at the time the site was quite run down and still had a lot of ex-bt buildings on the site.

The filming locations section of IMDB gives the "Bletchley Park" location as Chicheley Hall, near Newport Pagnall.

And here are some images of the Hall.

The video for Cliif Richard's song 'Wired for sound' was filmed in MK's main shopping mall.

Milton Keynes is all right if you like lots of straight lines, roundabouts and concrete

But before the 'new town' it was a nice little rural area, so some older films'TV programmes might offer some quite different sights of the area.

And very confusing road signs. For some reason, a lot of the signs that indicate through routes don't use the standard convention of road number on a blue background for a motorway or a green background for a trunk road, so if your eye is attuned to looking out for these, the motorway route doesn't stand out from all the other, urban places that may be reached from other exits of the roundabout. There's also a tendency to signpost only the local districts and to omit the longer distance locations, at some roundabouts.

It most certainly is, all the roundabouts have names, there's even one called 'Bottledump' roundabout lol, I see in that promotional film two of my fave chain stores no longer exist, Woolworth and C & A, always loved being a man at C & A lol, I recall going to the housing office at MK 30 years ago as I wanted to get my own place (as you do, when you're young) and was told by the nice lady I had to get a job in the area first, then they'd give me a place to live, I didn't go through with it, in retrospect I wish I had but that's life, these days I only go to MK and stay over for a visit to Bletchley Park or Woburn Abbey, I like the colourful 'Hub' area in the evening, all bars and restaurants, though mega shopping malls hold no interest for me these days as they once did.
