Thanks Rob. I know the non-studio filming was at Portmeirion, but there is one or two shots used that is of an island and not a peninsula. Just curious.

I think I saw somewhere that it was stock footage of one of the islands in The Maldives.

I'll bet the coast-line is lined with cheap hotels now, and the beach littered with tawdry bars and cafes.......



Mind you, the banana boat looks novel......

it seems to be more of a white ball than an orange banana........

If you want the fun of finding them for yourselves the clues I used were:



1 - These islands usually appear with other stock footage from the Caribbean.



2 - There is a mixture of volcanic and coral reef features.



If you don't want the fun of finding them just vist the Avengerland site.

This is from Monday's Daily Politics, Danny Finkelstein, the Times columnist is coming into the screen grab.



IIRC this the same corner as Patrick McGoohan in one of the final scenes of The Prisoner speaks to the policeman and then starts doing 'The knee bone' dance.

It was filmed at Portmeirion in Wales. I did have the pleasure of visiting, but I would say it looked rather dirty and not really looked after. (needs a lick of paint). Would recommend people who enjoy the Prisioner to visit..

I was there in spring last year and it looked marvellous. I think it had just had a lot of fresh paint. I understand the hotel lobby has just been renovated too.

It features in at least two other ITC shows, the Danger Man episode Someone Is Liable to Get Hurt and The Saint - The Old Treasure Story. I've also discovered it was used in The Avengers - The Superlative Seven. The Avengerland website identifies the island as Carriacou and Petit Martinique, and I have captured colour and black and white versions of this stock footage.

In "Many Happy Returns" wasn't he doing the search for the village from a jet fighter rather than a helicopter? I think he pilots the helicopter in an escape bid in the "Schizoid Man".

Yes, the search in Many Happy Retrurns is made from a jet, but the escape bid by helicopter is in Arrival. He doesn't get far.



He is taken for a short helicopter ride in Schizoid Man as well. Strangely enough he doesn't get far then either !
