Anybody know where Bob and Thelmas house was in the 1973-5 series.Looks like a newish estate somewhere.

In the closing scene ...were the kids supposed to be in the shots climbing amongst derelict buildings

Wonder if anybody knows who they were..

    Classic series..

I know a lot of it was filmed in Gateshead, the film anyway. The derelict houses are not far from where the angel of the north monstrosity is now.

As for the house, I`m not sure where that was, but your right, it must have been a BRAND spanking new housing estate for the time it was filmed.

I wish they would keep some buildings as they were or at least try and keep them going. The get carter car park is a prime example.

The single came out on BBC Records in 1973, and is credited to Highly Likely. It was written by Mike hugg of Manfred Mann (and the "Ski - the full of fitness food" yoghurt advert, more importantly) and Ian La Frenais, so I imagine Highly Likely is them - though the rumour at the time was that it was Rodney Bewes, as the song has the same bewildered melancholy bonhomie that his acting has, I suppose. Apparently not true, though.

I got mine off ebay, and played it to death on my radio show in Barcelona ... always brings a tear to the eye.

I have the BBC 45 in my mitts as I type this. Bewes is credited as co-writer on the maudlin B side God Bless Everyone.

Got to number 35 in April 1973 - Bewes must have made a bit off that, as 1973 was a time when you had to shift a fair few copies to truble the top 40.

It was Mike Hugg who sang thelead vocalon the theme tune.He released a solo album around the same time which I've tried to get hold of for years.
