Been away in Barcelona where we rented an apartment for three weeks. Saw a number of films which would not otherwise had come to our notice when a video store nearby sold off its stock in preparation for closing. "The Statement," "Girl with a pearl earing," "A good woman", "Runaway jury", "Venus" and so on. Stuff is no good in Canada so we just left it for the next holiday makers.
Never seen Brit football hooligans before but close up they had incredibly dainty table manners.
And on the eve of departure home I had what my quack says was probably a heart attack. Should have checked in for treatment but I stuck it out, ignoring both the in-flight movie and the Air France dinner. The crew appeared a bit upset that their cuisine should be treated like this. Pretty well recovered a week later.
Dunno who asked for my participation but here it is. I didn't make it into the cast of "In Which We Serve" but the movie did get me into the wartime RN at age 15 (by the simple expedient of saying I was 18) and from there to the peacetime RCN for a full career.
