The part of Mr Sloane was played by Peter McEnery. The dada was played by Alan Webb. Georgie Fame sang the theme song from the film, the film title is on the b-side of Georgie Fame's 1970 CBS release Somebody Stole My Thunder.

It was based on a Joe Orton play.

I'm not too sure where it was filmed could have been near Highgate ? I'm sure someone on this Forum would know.

No- the graveyard is Camberwell Old cemetery- very near where I live. It is an amazing place, particularly on a drippy wet day! I love Joe Orton plays and this is a good version, although I don't think they translate that well to the cinema.

"I've come a long way you know!" "Equally long way to go back..."

The film version of Loot is a disaster - Sloane translated reasonably well though lost the stuffiness and oppression of the stage version.

Loot - I didn't mind it but it wasn't great, the biggest flaw IMHO is the casting of Dickie as Truscott.

Entertaining Mr Sloane - much better but still a disappointment for us Orton fans.

There was a really good TV version of What the Butler Saw a few years ago ..... if you think the Farrelly brothers are in bad taste think again .... Orton was the master. Hilarious!

I wish I had claws.

I don't think it's ever had a release or been repeated ...

What the Butler Saw (1987) (TV)

I wish I had claws.

Thanks Bats - it was aired when I was working overseas in the 80s. Someone, somewhere must have it lurking on a dusty old video . . .

If you find one let me know, I'd love to see it again. I saw a stage production a few years back and that too was hilarious!
