Otley (1968) is a real favourite of mine. With Tom Courtenay in the title role supported by stalwarts like Alan Badel, James Villiers, Leonard Rossiter, Freddie Jones, James Bolam and James Cossins, plus a screenplay by Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais, it was always going to work for me.
In the days of Carlton Cinema I taped a screening but it wasn't in widescreen and much of the dialogue was spoken either just after or just before the lips of the speaker moved - very frustrating!
I really hope this will get a DVD release sometime soon. OK, it's not a groundbreaking moment in movie history but it's very funny and has one or two exciting moments, too. Not forgetting James Cossins' driving examiner reduced to cringing despair as Otley's test turns into a car chase!
