I adore this movie although I wasn't born when it was released.

I love it especially michael caine looking into the camera and talking to you! it's wonderfully made!

Michael Caine's Filmography - Michael Caine .com - The Official Michael Caine Website was wrong because it wasn't his first film but it was the film that gave him an oscar

He didn't win the Oscar for Alfie. He was nominated, but lost out to Paul Scofield with A Man for All Seasons.

You can't always believe what uncles tell you. I should know, I wind up my nephews & nieces with misleading information quite often

Caine was excellent as Alfie the miserable, lovable cad, but Paul Scofield in A Man for All Seasons inhabited the role and gave Alfie stiff competition. A well-deserved Oscar. Scofield was wonderful in The Train. He's probably chalked up a poor role but I can't remember one.

Best,

Barbara
