As a Manchester lad at the time this film was made I get particular enjoyment, remembering all the locations in the film (some long gone). I bought the DVD mentioned elsewhere for a snip at £3.99 from Play.com (UK): DVDs, Music CDs, MP3s, Video Games, Books, Electronics & Gadgets - Free Delivery and found it thoroughly enjoyable. There are other posts on Britmovie about this film - do a search.

Yes, I recently purchased this Movie from Play.com too!
I don't recall where I read it, but I have read that the good folks of Manchester weren't too happy about having their City regarded as 'Hell'! Though I guess back then if I had to work in a Lancashire Mill for 10 hours day amongst all that noise (Hindle wakes) I'd feel like I was in Hell too! I don't think there's any traditional Mills operating today in Northern England, which is probably a blessing in disguise....... |
