Brenda Blethyn, indeed to goodness, look you. It's a Welsh name but she was born in Kent as Brenda Bottle and married a Welshman.

Yes, it's a lovely film. A lot of people though that Jane Horrocks was miming, but that really is her singing.

The story started as a stage play, directed by Sam Mendes, written for Jane Horrocks by Jim Cartwright to make use of some of her many remarkable talents.

Once again proved that Michael Caine is a great comic actor as well. He gave a whole new meaning to the song 'It's Over, it's oh so f*******g over'.

Definitely agree, Freddy! I admire Caine for putting acting first rather than looks. He jumps into a character and could care less about Michael Caine the icon looking good. If he has to be a slob, he's the greatest slob of all; sleazy, here comes the pencil moustache (wasn't he great in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels); and so forth.

Little Voice was wonderful. And how about Jane Horrocks. Amazing talent.

All the best,

Barbara

Try to catch 'Without A Clue' Barbara, Michael Caine at his wonderful comic best as Sherlock Holmes, a film not often mentioned but great fun for all the family.

I was on holiday in Scarborough when they were filming. I didn't know at the time what the film was so it was a pleasant suprise when I saw it at the pictures not long after.

The funny thing was that I liked that area so much I went back the following year to Whitby and they were making a film there too. It was "Possession" with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeremy Northam. It was an eye-opener to see how much went into dressing a street to make it appear 18th century. They filmed in and around Church Street for 3 days. I waited to see the film later on. It was trailered at my local Odeon and posters were put up in the foyer but they never showed it !

I finally got it on video and the three days of filming ended up as a 3 second shot which could have been anywhere.

"Liitle Voice" though is a truly lovely film. Michael Caine's "meltdown" at the end is a joy to behold.

Ah Yes, the Soviet Union. All them wheatfields and ballet in the evenings

Possibly the greatest moment in British cinema history (for me anyway).
