Default Casino Royale (2006)

Casino Royale (2006)

(the new bond movie not the peter sellers movie)

This movie is well worth watching full of action and lots of thrills and edge of the seat stuff also the usual gadgets that bond would have.

what I missed out was that he also gets the beautiful women too!

the Aston martin's back daniel craig plays our favourite British goverment agent who's not yet received his "00" status so this is before we see him as 007.

I don't want to spoil it for many of you that have not seen it but what I can say it's highly recommended.

I haven't seen the film, so I can't say how David Arnold's score works in the context of the images it accompanies. But played on it's own, it's dreadful.

What did you make of the music as part of the film-experience?

I thought it worked very well and loved the idea that it got a bit more traditionally Bond-like the more he became 007. And thank goodness filmmakers have rediscovered the value of silence in film!

Not sure about the intro song though, but liked the graphics.

For some reason, the title song isn't on the soundtrack I have. (it was bought legit from HMV) But I believe other copies of the soundtrack DO have it.

I must agree that Arnold's re-working of the Bond theme is pretty good.

I've bought a lot of film msuic over the years and some is listenable in its own right - whether or not you actually enjoy it - because it can be played as a piece of music.

Some film music is more akin to sound effects - in fact, the term Mickey-Mousing refers to cartoon scoring - and that isn't listenable because you need to hear it in the context of the film.

I think Arnold's score falls in to the first category: it's "listenable to" but isn't my cup of tea.

Default The Name's Boone - Sam Boone

Just watched this last night and was very impressed. I sort of gave up with Bond after Pierce Brosnan took over and I thought some of the later ones were video games more than movies - however, the new Bond has successfully recaptured the original look and feel and even the opening titles and music were right and the performances and action were good. (I always thought that many of the female actors in the old Bond movies were poor.)

Only criticism is it was about 20 minutes too long and the ending was a tad predictable - the last words were great - and I felt good afterwards and that counts for something.

No question - Bond is back

Bond's not been as nasty since Connery shoots the guy with empty gun in Dr No. Welcome back Mr Bond we've been missing you.

I loved Casino Royale, even my wife enjoyed it and she usually hates Bond films. Daniel Craig was excellent in the role and I am looking forward to Bond 22.

Don't miss out on a chance to win a rare film in Bat-Quiz 13 closing date - 31/8/8.

Im a big Bond fan and watched Casino Royale and thought it was... well....okay. Very slick modern thriller ,reinventing the Bond story yet sticking to the old formula of set smashing climax( sinking building in Venice) I guess with the advent of digital the actors can do all sorts of stunts with safetey harness's etc that can be removed digitally as in the crane jumping shots. It was an enjoyable enough film but not one I would particularly watch again, unlike the Connery films which I have probably watched about 20 times each!! Im thinking that the Bond franchise passed its golden age a long time ago but soldiers on with the theme. Actually I thought the last Pierce Brosnan Bond was awful, not his fault because he was good in the role but that cheap unconvincing ice city set and the two dimensional villains and worst of all the laughable computer generated surfing scene.....embarassing!! I got dissoluusioned with the series after that so was pleasantly surprised to at least see a gritty and realistic approach in Casino Royale. I will pay my money and go and see the next instalement!

I thought 'Die Another Day' was Pierce's best.

I thought Die Another Day had some good moments but was let down by the ridiculous plot and the awfully cheap looking CGI. I am pleased Daniel Craig has won awards for his performance and been BAFTA nominated because he is great in the role and retained his dignity through all that obscene anti-Craig bollocks.

Don't miss out on a chance to win a rare film in Bat-Quiz 13 closing date - 31/8/8.
