I dismiss him as Bond not to be fashionable but because I genuinely dislike the way he portrayed the role. The light flippancy was perfect for The Saint or The Persuaders but not for Bond.

The Lamborghini Islero that Roger Moore drove in THE MAN WHO HAUNTED HIMSELF was restored to brand new condition in 1987 and is still in perfect condition. There is a gallery of photos of it here:

    Roger Moore's Lamborghini Islero S "YLR 11G"

Has to be one of the coolest cars on the planet...

Lamborghini only made 100 examples of the Islero S model. There are only three in the UK and only 5 were ever made in right hand drive.

The restoration has changed the original colour from light blue to silver and the interior was originally grey leather and is now re upholstered in red, its the same car alright but bears little resemblance to its original on screen spec....nice motor though...shudder to think what it does per litre of fuel with that line up of thirsty carbs, but I guess if you can afford to buy such a car you wouldn't really care......In 1969 a Lamborghini Islero cost £7400, and the other iconic Lamborghini of the day, the Muira, as driven in the opening credits of The Italian Job cost £9500, so the Islero was a bargain at the time. Today the Islero is worth £90k and the Muira is worth £200k+.

Yes it's a crying shame they changed the colours when they restored it, but at least it is correct in more or less every other detail. Islero's only do about 15 to the gallon - but then who would use one as their every day car? You say they are worth £90 GBP but in fact I noticed values have been rocketing in the last year or so. One that was not as good as this one, and had no celebrity connection, sold in Monterey USA at the Gooding & Co. auction in August 2008 for $203,000 USD. And in January 2009, the actual Islero that use to be Ferruccio Lamborghini's own personal car sold by Joe Sackey in the USA for a reputed $250,000 USD !! The colour of that car was always silver with burgundy interior so maybe that's why this colour scheme was chosen when the Roger Moore car was restored, who knows.

    Crossplot?
