It's not true that John Cleese was ever cast as Brian Cohen. He says himself in 'Monty Python: Almost the Truth' that he wanted the part but that it was always intended for Graham and that he felt that was the right decision.
Rowdon - saying The Meaning of Life has no good bits is opinion, not fact. Several people would argue the merits of the Death segment, Christmas in Heaven, and Every Sperm is Sacred just for starters. It isn't in the same league as their other work, but it isn't totally awful.
