Default Geordie

Bill Travers and Alistair Sim, in this 1955 much underated classic. Haven't seen it for ages, even thinking about it now, I get a lump in my throat, in a good way. "Come on, my wee Geordie.

Cheers,

Nobby.

My thanks to aphra, for the correct phrase, which is, to put the record straight,

"Come awa', ma wee Geordie!"

I of course, was translating

Cheers again aphra and I hope you received my personal thanks.

Nobby

Young Geordie, was played by Paul Young who now does the Hooked on fishing progs on Real time ( cable /sky ). Can any one remember the now cut out scene where young Geordie is seen being lifted on a board by the film crew to pinch the egg from the birds nest.

I remember some of the dialogue: 'Is tha a fack? a scene with Travers, Huntley and a blond with a foreign accent; someone asked what Travers did and got these replies:Blond, 'He throws the hammer for England', Travers, 'SCOTLAND!!!!, Huntley;'Britain' .It's a good one. 'Is tha a fack?

what about Stanley Baxter as the postman - there was an actor who should have had a more considerable movie career. What character actor he could have been. Thought he fine in those flicks with James Robertson Justice and Leslie Philips
