As it was the 24th (The 2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot there were probably more brummies fighting than Welshmen. That said a superb film and in my top ten all time favourites...no idea how many times the RE are mentioned. If you find out please let us know.

The regiments got merged and moved around over the years. The South Wales Borderers museum in Brecon holds most of the VCs awarded as well as a lot of other information about the Rorke's Drift action

Gosh! Another excuse to watch Zulu. Although with all that great acting and visual splendour, I just may get distracted from the task in hand. Just have to keep watching over and over.

I came across a list of those awarded the VC for the battle of Rorke's Drift and only two were born in Wales.

The Antiques Road Trip featured one of the experts going into the South Wales Borderers Museum, handling a Martini Henry rifle with a 22inch bayonet fixed and later holding the VCs of Henry Hook and Gonville Bromhead. It's 20 minutes into the programme.

I watched Antique Road Trip. The interlude were David Harper holds the Victoria Crosses of Chard and Bromhead from Roarke's drift, brought a tear to my eye. David's hands were shaking he was so overcome. Wonderful moment.
