    Really enjoyed watching it this afternoon, I hadn't seen it for about 30 years or more.

    I'd forgotten James Bolam was in it. Loads of other well known faces including a scouse tearaway John Thaw!



    Tom Courtenay at his best.



    Any other fans?

    Yes, I like this Film also, probably because one of my fave Battleaxes, Avis Bunnage is in it "everything in this house is mine, it belongs to me"!, and she treats herself to a brand new Fur Coat after her Works insurance payout on the death of her husband "It's a pity the poor devil had to die before he got anything out of you lot", but she soon takes up with another man "get my breakfast on the table", I was intrigued by the scene when Tom was awoken to go out on an early morning practice run for the main run ahead, he gets up puts on his running shoes and goes running, no going to the loo or having a cup of tea first?!!

    The book is all I really know from my school days, but that is a good read I still remember from some 20 years ago!

    I just remembered that they pair up again in King Rat another old favourite with fantastic performances by both. I'm gonna dig that out tomorrow!
