One thing about Jacques Tourneur was that his Horror movies were NOT typical Hollywood fare... consider 'Cat People' (very different for Hollywood and subtle... which, with all due respect, is not a trend in American productions). Jacques Tourneur was much more psychological in his approach to Horror.

Hammer and Amicus were not the ONLY providers of British Horror. 'Night of the Eagle' was also British, Black and White and largely subtle... much more similar to 'Night of the Demon' than usual Hollywood Fare.

Yes, Hammer and Amicus were the big players, and their fare was often in-your-face rather than subtle... but even they were quite subtle occasionally. 'The Abomnible Snowman' or 'I, Monster' perhaps?

I'm not saying 'Night of the Demon' is typical of general British Horror output... I'm saying it wasn't typical of Hollywood output either.
Yes I totally agree that Jacques Tourneur was unique in his approach to horror films, I feel the style he worked in is synonomous with the success he had at RKO with producer Val Newton and he seems to transfer that style in his direction of Night of The Demon which gives it that 1940's RKO look about it. Compared to Hammers Frankenstein of the same year NoTD looks 10 years older , if you had told me NoTD was shot on a back lot in hollywood I might have believed it but for the real UK locations, it feels more like a film made on location in the UK than a homegrown Brit Movie.....so yes, niether typically hollywood or typically British.

28 Days Later
Alfie (1966)
Concrete Jungle (aka The Criminal)
Love Actually

collated from this very thread (and there's still a few more to go)

which brings the list to a not-particularly-round 549 titles so 452 still to find!

As to choice of US or UK title, well that's how I added the title to me list, so there.
So what should the first Harry Potter film be called then eh?
(and should they be included? I added Azkaban)
Should Fargo be included?

Suggest more titles!
Otherwise I'll start making up the numbers with Hammer's output.

They're pulled from the Top 100 script, about 200 others (Amolad, Third Man, Ladykillers etc) have urls attached and I'm too lazy to edit them out!

I would say any Hammer Horror and Carry on's all worth seeing before you die. All made with a small budget and a big audiance.

Poor Marlon, he just couldn't care less by that time or well before and probably resentfully banked a large pay cheque for another dubious appearnce in a very dubious film, its a long way from Mutiny on The Bounty!!.....
