Plot SynopsisUninventive Norman Wisdom comedy vehicle set in a country house. Norman, a hapless London window cleaner loses his job and takes on new employment cleaning the many windows of wealthy Lady Banderville at Banderville Manor. The only problem is that Norman is always landing in hot water when he becomes the victim of Sir Reggie’s (Michael Caridia), her young son, pranks. Undeterred by such a smear campaign, Norman makes a determined effort to polish up his act after narrowly avoiding the sack. Despite the watchful eye of his guardians, the stuffy Major Willoughby (Jerry Desmonde) and disapproving Fletcher (Colin Gordon), spoiled-brat Sir Reggie forces the luckless Norman to take him to a nightclub to watch a magician, The Great De Milo, unaware he's stepping straight into a plot to abduct the young heir. Norman foils the kidnapping attempt and knocks Sir Reggie unconscious in the process – as a result of which Norman is wrongly convicted of the crime and sent to jail for 25 years hard labour. He escapes and returns to the family estate, and after another bump on the head, Sir Reggie regains his memory and clears Norman’s name. |
