Surprisingly tense second-feature from obscure director Maxwell Munden
and based on the short story Prelude to Murder by Walter C. Brown.
Despite some plot holes, this well-handled thriller never lets up
and makes the most of its hauntingly isolated setting.
London couple, novelist Geoff Carter (Michael Gough) and his wife
Carol (Patricia Roc) lease a remote country cottage so he can work
on his latest novel in peace and quiet, but their eccentric landlord
Spencer Howard (Ronald Howard) turns out to be an unstable artist
who is suspected of murdering his wife. Now the writer believes the
murderous landlord is about to kill his wife too and that real life
is mirroring the plot of his new murder novel.
