Plot SynopsisHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire welcomes back stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson for the pivotal fourth film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's novel in the popular seven-part tale of Harry Potter's training as a wizard and his coming of age. The Mike Newell directed Goblet of Fire truly finishes the transition began with the stylish Prisoner of Azkaban and becomes both the best Harry Potter film so far and one that stands on it’s own as cinematic entertainment. The first in the series to carry a PG-13 rating, Goblet of Fire is a far more mature adventure than the proceeding instalments and one that should please Potter purists. The story starts during the summer holidays before Harry's (Daniel Radcliffe) fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Weasley family invites Harry to stay with them for the last two weeks of the holidays and accompany them to the crowning event of the summer: The Quidditch World Cup Final between Ireland and Bulgaria. Everything would be so great if it weren't for the mysterious Dark Mark scorching the sky, foreshadowing the comeback of the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). Meanwhile Hogwarts is looking forward to another great event: The Tri-Wizard Tournament, an international magic competition between Hogwarts and two foreign schools: the chic French girls from Beauxbatons and the nimble Cossacks from Durmstrang. All students over 17 are allowed to apply, and a goblet of fire picks a advocate from each school that will fight the hazardous competition. The goblet picks four champions: Fleur Delacour for Beauxbatons, Viktor Krum for Durmstrang, Cedric Diggory for Hogwarts and, to everyone's surprise, Harry Potter! Harry must contend with being mysteriously selected to compete in the prestigious tournament that pits him against older and more experienced students from Hogwarts and the two rival schools. But for Harry, this is not the only harrowing news causing him anxiety - he still has yet to find a date for Hogwarts Yule Ball dance on Christmas Eve. Facing his new, unpleasant popularity, a bad discussion with Ron (Rupert Grint), his first love, and many dangers, Harry takes the challenge and stands up to fight - for his school, against the evil, and always with parent’s murderer, Lord Voldemort in mind. |
