Plot SynopsisRefreshingly compassionate drama that benefits from being filmed on location at Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby. The film also founded J. Arthur Rank’s film-making intentions, unable to find a distributor for his film, Rank set up his own distribution and production company which mushroomed into his latter empire. Turn Of The Tide is set in a fishing village on the Yorkshire coast, where the arrival of the Lunn’s with their modern motorboat is deeply resented by the established fishermen of Fosdyck family – particularly old patriarch Isaac (J. Fisher White). The feud between the families ends with the marriage of Marney Lunn (John Garrick) and Ruth Fosdyck (Geraldine Fitzgerald). The younger Fosdyck’s eventually bury the hatchet and join forces with the Lunn’s to buy a deep-sea fishing boat. |
