Plot SynopsisAn interesting premise is ineptly handled in this lacklustre second-feature drama shot at Merton Park by Vernon Sewell. Ignore both the misleading UK and US (Terror Ship) title; there is little danger and certainly no terror in the fishy tale of intrigue and smuggling in the English Channel. American star William Lundigan was imported for the lead role and Naomi Chance, wife of director Guy Hamilton, co-stars. American pulp novelist Peter Duncan (William Lundigan) is in England searching for inspiration for his next book when he reads the intriguing story of John Drew (Vincent Ball) and his sister Joan (Naomi Chance) and how they discovered a yacht adrift off the Dover coast. The yacht was manned by two men but once back in the harbour it was empty. Duncan visits the Drew’s, who have salvage claim on the boat, under the pretence of being interested in buying it. But first he persuades them both to assist him in attempting to discover the yacht’s ownership. From the ship’s dials they deduce it may have been built in France but when they visit Trouville somebody takes a pot shot at them with a gun. The trio begin to suspect the yacht may have been used for smuggling. When they return to England it transpires that all of them have developed gamma-ray burns on their arms. They soon discover that the ship's mast is filled with stolen uranium from a nearby research station. They crooks attempt to make their escape in a stolen fishing boat and a chase at sea ensues, culminating in a deadly explosion. |
