Plot SynopsisFuturistic fantasy from respected producer Michael Balcon. The story involves designer McAllen (Richard Dix), the visionary chief architect behind the construction of a transatlantic tunnel scheme beneath the Atlantic linking England with America. McAllen journeys to America. There he is photographed everywhere with Varlia (Helen Vinson), the daughter of one of the project backers. His wife, Ruth (Madge Evans), thinking she has lost him, takes a job working at a first aid post in the tunnel. When she receives news that her job is causing her to lose her sight, the couple may yet be drawn back together. Further tragedy strikes when their son is killed when the drilling operation causes a massive underground explosion during construction. McAllen must go to the drilling rig to complete the dangerous task of meeting the American tunnel crew. |
