Plot SynopsisWill Hay stars as bogus sea captain Ben Cutlet, Ben is filled with hot air and is often found in his sisters bar telling the regulars tall tales about his fictitious sea adventures. Ben’s only real experience is at the helm of a small barge on the canals, but his bragging back-fires when a wealthy ship owner hires him to take command of a vessel, the 'Rob Roy', which unknown to Ben, is to be scuttled by its shady crew as part of an insurance scam. The crew mutiny and Ben escapes on a raft along with two stowaways (Moore Marriott and Graham Moffatt) to an island inhabited by cannibals. The natives are frightened into friendliness by a radio set which washed ashore with the trio, the natives believe the ‘Voice in Box’ to be a god and help Ben recapture his ship from the crooked crew. Their efforts to sink the Rob Roy had proved unsuccessful, and Ben sails home triumphantly, finally proving his worth as a seaman. |
