Plot SynopsisThis rags-to-riches story is the last of Jessie Matthews’s lively British musicals and was directed efficiently by her then husband Sonnie Hale. Jessie performs such songs as 'My River', 'Your Heart Skips a Beat' and 'Trusting My Luck'. Thames bargees Kay (Jessie Matthews) and Steve (Barry MacKay) are in love but hide their feelings beneath an antagonistic friendship. She dreams of being a music-hall star whilst he wishes to become a financial wheeler-dealer. Entrepreneurial eccentric millionaire Anthony Gulliver (Roland Young) helps them both to fulfil their dreams but both ultimately give up fame and fortune to sail away on Steve’s new boat. |
