Plot Synopsis

Slow-moving turn-of-the-century adventure set in the stunning mountain ranges of South Africa, just after the Boer War, which could have been quite stirring if it hadn't been morbidly under-directed by David MacDonald. Jack Hawkins was on his way to major stardom and leads the film cast against type as a villain.

Villainous commando Pieter Brandt (Jack Hawkins) enlists the help of a group of mismatched men to help him search the mountain ranges of South Africa for a cache of diamonds stolen during the Boer War. Joining Brandt is cashiered British officer Clive Hunter (Dennis Price), boyish looking Boer Hendrik van Thaal (Peter Hammond) and bartender Dominic (Grégoire Aslan). As their obvious distrust comes to the surface, the search for riches becomes a tense and deadly affair.
