Plot SynopsisTouching and jaunty comedy from the novel Nurse Is a Neighbour by Joanna Jones following the misadventures of a young district nurse, starring Juliet Mills, Ronald Lewis, Joan Sims and Norman Rossington. The production team of producer Peter Rogers, director Gerald Thomas and screenwriter Norman Hudis were the force behind the successful Carry On series but rather than bawdy humour this is old-fashioned family fun. Joanna Jones (Juliet Mills), a new rural district nurse replaces her predecessor Nurse Merrick (Barbara Everest) in the sleepy little village of Blandley. Nurse Jones soon becomes the subject of malicious gossip among the conservative townsfolk but after a near-miss with wealthy farmer Henry Edwards (Ronald Lewis) - she falls in love, But their relationship runs anything but smoothly when the two clash over his determination to evict a young couple expecting a baby from his land. |
