Plot SynopsisA tolerable, taut presentation of a familiar story by regular B movie director Charles Saunders. Insurance investigator Jake Winter (Griffith Jones) goes undercover in jail to complete his assignment, on release he’s picked up by seductive Laura (Zena Marshall). who, believing Winter to be an ex-con, claims she wants to hire him to recover a letter from a man who is blackmailing her husband Charles Dexter. Winter is intrigued, and after dropping in at the insurance office to request his phoney police record is quashed, goes to meet Laura and her husband at their home. That evening Winter arrives at for the scheduled meeting to be greeted by Laura, who claims her husband is running late. Winter begins to feel sleepy and all too late realises his drink has been spiked. When he awakes he finds a dead body on the bedroom floor – the real Mrs Dexter. Framed for murder and wanted by the police, Winter strives to proves innocence with the help of new boss Susan (Hazel Court). It transpires that Charles Dexter had taken out a new life policy only two months ago and knows the mysterious blonde Laura all too well. |
