Plot SynopsisOverly complicated and hackneyed crime drama that is the only screen appearance of Manning O'Brine's famous fictional private detective Mike O'Kelly. O’Kelly is portrayed here by granite-jawed Canadian actor Rod Cameron, more familiar to viewers as a star of westerns. Lois Maxwell, Miss Moneypenny of the James Bond franchise, gets a rare opportunity to share the limelight. Private detective Mike O’Kelly (Rod Cameron) is on the trail of the men who murdered his associate Ben Connor. A phone call leads him to the nightclub of Italian owner Giorgio Sacchi (Peter Illing), who discloses that Connor was involved with his wayward brother Amedeo (Derek Sydney). O’Kelly also discovers that Connor was a supporter of novelist Orlando Syms (Clifford Evans), president of the International League for World Peace. Syms divulges that Connor was investigating claims that the Peace League has been infiltrated by neo-fascists in London using the organisation to conceal their activities. He finds some vital clues in a book grasped by in the dead Connor’s hand; a set of numbers that reveal the membership register of the Peace League. O’Kelly subsequently does some snooping with the help of undercover agent Diane Boyd (Lois Maxwell), and falls into the clutches of fascist sympathisers Dr. Randolph and cohort Pietro. With the police closing in, Randolph and Pietro attempt to flee the country. |
