I don't really know the Yorkshire Dales too well, but the parts I have driven through were certainly stunning.
The next time you're in Cheshire head for Buxton, which is a lovely town and certainly worth a visit. From here, then it's countryside and small villages in all directions.

One high on my bucket list - walking the trail of the old Cromford and High Peak Railway. Also fascinated by the custom of "well dressing", hopefully the visit (whenever) might co-incide with a local festival somewhere.

Arthur, you won't be disappointed.....can't promise you sunny weather unfortunately. The well-dressing takes place during the spring and summer months and can be seen in lots of towns and villages. Any tourist information centre can provide you with a list of forthcoming dates (if I remember correctly, I think they can be downloaded too) but below is a 2017 list to give you an idea where to see them:

Another Peak District website with lots of information (in case you haven't seen this one):

Some information regarding the High Peak Trail:

I've put the above link in as the original one wasn't working for some reason.

Yes Ella they were very good, appeared to have solved 'rush hour'.

Is Buxton the place where the sping water comes from?

Indeed it is a spa town. It has a fine cinema within the Pavilion Arts Centre but its crowing glory is Buxton Opera House, which stages live performances of all kinds of entertainment. Its production of The Mikado in 1992 is generally regarded as the best ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2TW90OEU-U&t=1672s
