Nice to see a couple of photos from my book on the programme. Virginia (her Daughter) worked with me at Radio Luxembourg.

As someone who once, many years ago, worked on her contracts to perform to veterans association's,I would join in wishing her a very happy birthday

Yes, a very happy 100th birthday, Dame Vera. What an achievement. I hope you got your card from the Queen. Incredible to think that you were only 30 when I was born.

                  Did you mean "veterans associations"?

There was a birthday Spitfire flypast over the white cliffs in Dame Vera's honour (delayed by a day due to bad weather).
It might have been nice if they had detoured westwards over West Sussex and the village of Ditchling, where Dame Vera has lived for many years.

Surely bluebirds would have been appropriate.

Except that bluebirds are American and are never seen anywhere near the White Cliffs of Dover
