The King of Saturday mornings on radio for years. He was very helpful to The Beatles in their early years. Treated disgracefully by the BBC.To give Sounds of The Sixties in name to Tony Blackburn is an insult to Brian's memory as its turned into the usual Tony Blackburn show.

    R.I.P

The BBC clearly wants a justification for dropping it (which will be provided by declining listener numbers). That's probably wht they unceremoniously dropped Brian Matthew from the show before Christmas, too (which can't have done much for his health!).

The 1960s will seem to be pre-historic to most of the young BBC management. They'll probably eventually put 'the Sounds of the 80s' into the old timeslot.

Sad news - I remember listening to 'Saturday Club' as a young teenager in the 1960's

Just in case he really has passed on this time and it's not another error on the part of the BBC, Rest In Peace, Brian. A true radio legend.

It's a pity the BBC treated him so shabbily over the last few months.
