This is truly awful news. Bella was a very versatile and much-loved entertainer in so many aspects of the business. She was much-loved throughout the business and always described as one of the nicest people that it's possible to meet.
My own connection is that she accepted our invitation to open the new-look and greatly extended Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston (now in new premises) and she did it with great fun and in a wonderful spirit. She clearly loved Laurel and Hardy and knew a lot about their movies.
In terms of performances, I remember a side-splitting rendition she did of "I Got You Babe" with Russ Abbot on a celebration show of London Weekend Television. They were both padded out to astronomic proportions and a hilarious dance routine was choreographed, in addition to some comedy singing. I really think it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
The old-time great entertainers are leaving us one by one these days, and this one is a great loss to British comedy and entertainment. I'm very sad about this terrible news and I send my heartfelt condolences to her family.

Very sad news, she was wonderful alongside Russ Abbot in the 80's and 90's, whatever happened to Saturday night entertainment?
R.I.P. Bella. Thanks for the laughs.
