Possibly best-known in this country for his theme to the BBC's Panorama programme since the 1970s.

This track was originally composed for the Claude LeLouch film Live for Live (Vive pour Vivre) but it is not the title music

Francis Lai was probably most famous for the title song of the French film A Man and a Woman .

It you remember this, you will know why some DJs (Pete Murray for one) called it the 'rubba dubba dub' song !

      R.I.P.

Lovers of French cinema of the 60s will be familiar with many of his scores.
