Sad news. In many good films with Hayley Mills years ago.

... including The Family Way (1966) which I was watching only the other night, playing a newly-married man who spends his wedding night on the couch because he and his wife are too embarrassed to consummate their marriage in the room next door to his parents.

He was one of those actors who seemed to reach the age of about 25 and stayed there, never seeming to age, for the rest of his life.

        R.I.P.

Bad day yesterday, both Hywel and Robert Hardy passing. He was brilliant as Rikki Tarr in Tinker, Tailor.

Loved him in Shelley! I only saw Twisted Nerve fairly recently but it was a big hit with me.

Also enjoyed him in Endless Night - vey atmospheric!

The Guardian often contains errors or simple typos. That's why Private Eye refers to them as The Grauniad

                ?

Other sources also give that date.

The BBC site reported it on 3rd August but they don't actually say when he died

Shame to hear this. Loved him in The Family Way. One of my favourite films.

Shelley was excellent, it should have gained more recognition.
