Count Arthur returns ! Superb as ever !

He was terrible on the radio. I expect he's just as terrible on TV. I don't know, I have never watched him & have no desire to do so thanks. What's so good or is even bearable about him?

I've always hated the character, and I can't see how its going to work on TV. We'll see what everyone else thinks soon enough.

If someone wants to make a TV series based on something thats been on R4, John Finnemore might be asked, and the excellent Pilgrim could certainly be turned into an interesting series (btw, the atmospheric music from that series was also the basis for the music used in Fargo)

I saw some of his last TV series. Mind-bogglingly unfunny.

I admit he's an acquired taste.

Aquired taste? He's a one joke (or one technique) bore

I don't (as I said), I was just wondering why anyone else did. What they see in it.

I'm not sure I can answer that one. He just gets my funny bone. Does he remind me slightly of Harry Worth whom I loved when I was a kid then disliked intensely? But I've been here before. I initially didn't "get" "I Didn't Know you Cared" or Father Ted...then loved them! In the case of the former, I was initially unaware I was watching a comedy so grim did the script seem. Perhaps I'm just easily amused. I'm struggling to think of a comedy series I haven't liked. I can only take Mrs Brown's Boys in small doses. I admired the Goodies but never found them funny.

It's difficult to explain why you find something funny - either you do or you don't. I've never understood why people found the Goons funny, but plenty did.

It's interesting, though, how Count Arthur Strong seems to polarize people and how the people who don't like him are so emotive about it.
