I don't believe that the Beeb makes things up, that's just nonsense. As for 'their own agenda', it's interesting to note that the left accuse the Beeb of having a right wing agenda, while the right accuse them of having a left wing agenda. Make of that what you will.

However I share your concerns about the standard of their news reporting. I catch the 6 o'clock News occasionally and it always seems to consist of about 5 to 10 minutes of hard news with the rest of the time made up by human interest stories.

I also found the all-channel blanket coverage of Philip's death quite nauseating. I rather feel that he would have felt the same.

I see they’re still messing up the schedules. With things like Gardeners World instead of The British Academy Film Awards.

      Boo, hiss

Never mind Steve, there's always Mastermind on BBC2 at 8pm this evening with a contestant answering questions on the films of Powell and Pressburger, (unless of course they cancel it for an edition of The Repair Shop !!!!)

I’ll make a point of watching that, thanks.

I see they’re also re-showing the first of the suppressed episodes (series 7 episode 3) at 18:30 today followed by episodes 4, 7 & 11 on the following days

See also http://www.powell-pressburger.org/Mastermind.html for the last time someone tried doing the films of P&P as their specialist subject in 2006
